Position: Fellow

Hours of Employment: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM | Monday-Thursday. 

7:30 AM – 4:00 PM Fridays (non-school days)

(Occasional weekday evenings and weekends will be required)

Work Location: In-Person

Salary: $39,000 annually

Immediate Supervisor: Program Manager

Employment Type: Full-time | Non-exempt

Position Overview: NCCP is seeking highly motivated and energetic recent North Chicago Community High School graduates to join our team to serve their community. Fellows will be able to work closely with leadership to gain valuable experience in the nonprofit sector and contribute to our mission of educational equity and access to holistic care. This is a unique opportunity for individuals to be invested in post-high school graduation to learn and grow in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Actively engage in personal growth plans to develop hard and soft skills that are versatile for post-secondary plans
  • Assist in facilitating various aspects of community schoolwork while gaining hands-on experience. 

Some areas of support include:

  • Student-based programming centered on mentorship and youth development in academic, social, and emotional areas
  • Wellness initiatives including health clinics, sports physicals, student access to high-quality eye care, family access to food and essential household items 
  • Hospitality and care for teachers and district employees 
  • Renovation projects transforming learning environments 
  • Strategic outreach events 
  • In-school, after-hours, and extended-day community school activities 
  • Support in maintaining safe, respectful, and encouraging environments
  • Ensure appropriate materials and supplies are available for all programs
  • Develop and nurture appropriate relationships with students that align with program objectives 
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of learning environments and office-designated spaces
  • Assist with stewarding volunteers and partners 
  • Contribute to a positive and motivating work environment that encourages mutual respect, innovation, and accountability at all levels 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Recent graduate of North Chicago Community High School (grant funded for Class of 2024)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with diverse groups in a high-energy work environment
  • Successfully pass a background check and drug screening
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license

Expectations of all Employees:

  • Work in collaboration with the broader organization to facilitate school, community, and volunteer programs and events (NOTE: Must be able to remain in a stationary or mobile position, as the shift demands, and move equipment/supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.)
  • Develop and nurture appropriate relationships with all stakeholders
  • Maintain NCCP standards of professionalism 
  • Actively participate in all trainings and workshops
