The success of North Chicago Community Partners’ programs and our community school model is highly dependent upon leveraging the resources of the broader community and the ongoing contributions of time, talent and treasure of community partners and volunteers.

In 2017-18, we worked in collaboration with more than 40 different organizations, including local churches, high schools, colleges, community agencies, cultural groups, and almost 3,000 individual volunteers to tutor and mentor students, deliver engaging learning and enrichment opportunities, transform school facilities, encourage teachers and support the basic needs of students and families. They help us supply all teachers with classroom materials, provide hospitality before Parent Teacher Conferences and serve Staff Appreciation Lunch, every month, at each community school.  With over 18,600 hours of volunteer service in 2017-18, NCCP’s volunteers and partners play an integral role in creating a school climate and culture in North Chicago where members of the school community feel supported, respected and engaged.

NCCP’s community school model also includes developing the next generation of professional leaders through the recruitment, training and deployment of a diverse team of employees.  Approximately 65% of NCCP’s employees are from North Chicago or similar communities and/or reside in North Chicago.
